Volunteer at BUSTER Film Festival
We need your help for this year’s BUSTER, which once again will occupy the Copenhagen cinemas as Scandinavia’s biggest film festival for children and young people. Between 25th of September and 8th of October we invite children, young people, children by heart and the film industry to join us in the Copenhagen cinemas to watch films, play, have fun, take part in professional debates, workshops, premieres and much, much more!
As a volunteer, you will help lift the festival and at the same time gain insight into how a film festival comes together. The tasks are many and varied, and you will get the opportunity to meet new people and have a front row seat for a lot of film and media experiences. All the while being in a joyful atmosphere surrounded by children and young people.
Most volunteer shifts are scheduled during the festival itself, but there are also shifts that take place in the period up to and after the festival. The shifts during the festival will mainly be in the morning, while only a few tasks will be in the afternoon and early evening. This year we are also looking for volunteers for our new festival venue at Amager Fælled, where we have film screenings and outdoor activities from the 5th to the 8th of October. We want the volunteers to be part of our team. We need dedicated people.
The festival will take place from 25th of September to 8th of October – but tasks before and after can occur.
Most of the shifts don’t require Danish skills, and when it’s mandatory it’s clearly written on the shift.
The tasks will be within the following areas:
- Events & customer service: Help with special events, galas, debates and film events or customer service.
- Venue Hosting + Performer: Can you manage a room full of kids? Help with seating and managing the crowd at the cinemas. At certain screenings there will be an introduction dance together with the kids.
- Interested in production? We are also looking for production assistant volunteers who can support the production team, preferably during the entire festival.
- BUSTER IN NATURE at Amager Fælled: At this festival place tasks includes helping with selling and checking festival bracelets, guiding guests at activities and assisting BUSTER’s partners and nature guides at the activities and workshops, and helping giving festival guests a good experience.
A shift is usually 4-6 hours. We ask our volunteers to contribute with at least 3 shifts in order to allow us better team coordination and make it a better learning experience for all of you.
As a thank you for your help, you will receive free tickets / festival bracelets to this year’s festival program (which you can share with friends and family), BUSTER merch, other goodies and an invitation for a special BUSTER party with lots of glitter and hairspray!
This should take place prior to the festival and no later than 19 September. We will let you know how to do it.

DEADLINE FOR SIGNING UP IS FRIDAY 15 SEPTEMBER.
IMPORTANT NOTE: As we are working with kids and young people, everyone at BUSTER is asked to give permission for us to collect a Børneattest. This is to ensure that everyone in the festival, staff and volunteers, have no criminal record with regards to children.
NB: Work permit required for people coming from outside of the EU/EEA/Switzerland. It’s free, but it takes 3 months. See more and apply here.
