Programme for BUSTER Industry Days October 1-3

With industry accreditation for BUSTER 2025, you secure your place at The Big Nordic Children’s Film Conference Thursday, October 2, from 09.00-18.00 and also gain access to inspiring industry events such as the BUSTER Award Show, NoJSE Think Tank, and the Nordic Industry Meeting at Copenhagen City Hall, as well as free admission to all screenings and events in the regular BUSTER program. BUSTER's industry days will take place from October 1 to 3.

NoJSe Think Tank

09.00-16.00 at Himmelskibet, Cinemateket

The NoJSe Think Tank is a group of invited industry professionals specially from across the Nordic regions. Together, they engage in passionate debates about the current state and future of children’s media, driving bold ideas and transformative conversations. A comprehensive report capturing their insights and visions will later be released, shaping the future of media for children and youth. Meet Mathias Broe, Jenny Jokela, Atchy Konesh, Tora Mkandawire Mårtens and Christoffer Rizanovic Stenbakken in discussions about creating content for children and youth. The Think Tank is moderated by Christina Ramsø Thomsen.

Holy Cow

Totone is a young guy from eastern France who just wants to party and drink beer with his friends. But when his father dies in a tragic car accident, he suddenly finds himself alone with responsibility for his little sister. Totone now has to figure out how to earn money and support his family. Fortunately, he discovers that he has a chance to win €30,000 – if he can make the best Comté cheese in the big agricultural competition. Focusing on French traditions in a modern setting, ‘Mælkevejen’ paints a touching, warm and intimate portrait of a vulnerable young man on the brink of adulthood.

Boong lives with his mother in the small village of Imphal in Manipur. His father has left in search of a better life and more job opportunities. At school, there are rumors that Boong’s father is dead, but Boong refuses to believe it. Together with his best friend Raju, a photograph, and his belief in the magical power of music, he embarks on a dangerous journey through politically turbulent Manipur. In her debut film, Lakshmipriya Devi paints a complex picture that explores friendship and resilience in a world marked by change and division, as we—along with Boong and Raju—defy national borders and ethnic strife to bring Boong’s father home again.

Brothers Alex and Robin live in miserable conditions with their violent and heavily alcoholic father. Alex struggles to keep the family together and takes on the role of parent to his younger brother, who is aggressive and unruly. When Alex falls in love with Ines and travels with her to Berlin, the brothers begin to drift apart, and a terrible event turns their world upside down. A powerful and harsh portrait of brotherhood created by debuting Swedish director Maria Eriksson-Hecht, who references the cinematic worlds of Andrea Arnold and the Dardenne brothers.

The Thief  + Q&A with the directors

When 15-year-old Kaali discovers that his beloved sled dog has disappeared, a hunt begins through the town of Tasiilaq in East Greenland. Kaali is autistic and often feels left out, but when he suspects that the dog has been stolen, the hunt also becomes a journey into a community where it is not easy to be an outsider. And when the truth about the real thief comes out, Kaali faces an important choice: Is it worth losing his only friend for a dog? ‘Anngeerdardardor’ (‘The Thief’) is the first short film from East Greenland and a moving and raw story about friendship, identity, and finding your place.

BUSTER Award Show

16.30-18.30 in Bio Asta, Cinemateket

Celebrating the best of film and media for children and youth, the annual BUSTER Award Show presents nine awards this year, with satirist and musician Lasse Dein as the host. The band from the film ‘Honey’ will wrap up the show, and after there will be a mingle with alcohol free drinks in Asta Bar.

The Big Nordic Children’s Film Conference

9:00-17:00 in Bio Carl, Cinemateket

The Big Nordic Children’s Film Conference offers a focused exploration of children’s media and film. Designed for industry professionals, it features engaging sessions, lively discussions, and networking opportunities. Join us for a day dedicated to deepening insights into children’s cinema, connecting with colleagues, and sharing expertise through Q&As. This event will be followed by a Happy Hour in the Foyer of Cinemateket from 17:00 to 18:00. Read more HERE.

Nordic Industry Meeting at Copenhagen City Hall

09.30-11.00 at Copenhagen City Hall, Rådhuspladsen 1, 1553 København

Join us at Copenhagen City Hall for a Nordic industry morning chat in celebration of Pippi’s 80th birthday. The event will include a welcome speech by Deputy Chairman of the Citizens’ Representative Council, Klaus Mygind, a special speech by Hans Wallmark, the Swedish Ambassador, and a discussion on strong female characters in children’s media with Natasha Arthy (Honey), Karla Nor Holmbäck (Rosa and the Stone Troll) & Sabine Lemire (Mira book series), moderated by Julia Granath, festival director at BUFF film festival in Malmö. And of course, the delicious traditional City Hall pancakes will be served.
