Become a volunteer at BUSTER

We need your help for this year's BUSTER, which once again takes over the cinemas in Copenhagen as the Nordic region's largest film festival for children and young people. From September 20 to October 3, we invite children, young people, young at heart and the film industry into the darkness of the cinema for films, professional debates, workshops, premieres and much, much more!

As a volunteer, you’ll help run the festival and get an insight into how a film festival is put together. The tasks are many and varied, and you’ll have the opportunity to meet new people and get a front row seat to a lot of film and media experiences.

Most volunteer shifts are scheduled during the festival itself, but there are also shifts that take place in the period leading up to and after the festival. The shifts during the festival will mainly be during the daytime, while only a few tasks will be in the afternoon and early evening. This year we are also looking for volunteers for BUSTER i det fri (BUSTER out in the open), where we have film screenings and outdoor activities.

The tasks will be within the following areas:

  • Events and customer service: Help with special events, galas, debates and movie events or customer service.
  • Hosting + performer: Can you manage a room full of children? Help manage the young audience in cinemas by helping them to their seats etc. At some screenings there will be an intro dance with the kids.
  • Interested in production? We are also looking for Super Buster volunteers to support the production team, preferably during all days of the festival.
  • BUSTER i det fri (BUSTER out in the open): Here you will help sell/check festival wristbands, guide guests at activities and assist BUSTER’s partners and nature guides at activities, tours and workshops and help give guests a great festival experience on site.

A shift will typically last from 4-6 hours. We want volunteers to take a minimum of 3 shifts so we can create a workflow.

As a thank you for your help, we will reward you with free tickets/festival wristbands for this year’s festival program (which you can share with friends and family), BUSTER merch, other goodies and an invitation to a special BUSTER party.

We will hold an introductory meeting in mid-September (date to follow).

NOTE: Everyone at BUSTER is asked to give permission for us to obtain a childens’s certificate

NB: Work permit required for people coming from outside of the EU/EEA/Switzerland. It’s free, but it takes 3 months. See more and apply here.
